[Pollinator] Butterfly course deadline extended

Great news for anyone who couldn't make the October 1st deadline! Hope to
see
lots of you at the butterfly course in April.
Just as an FYI, due to hotel room block logistics, we must meet our minimum
enrollment numbers by 15 January in order to hold the course.

AZA Board of Regents Professional Development Awards
DEADLINE EXTENDED UNTIL OCTOBER 14!!
There are eight professional development awards available
to students that provide financial support to attend the
training program. Each of the awards provides funding for:
- Full tuition
- Lodging at the double-room rate
- Meals
- Air travel up to $500
- Round trip ground transportation from the airport to
course location
- $200 stipend
The application deadline is October 14 for the 2006
courses. Training Award applications are available at

Awards Available:
MARGARET A. DANKWORTH MANAGEMENT AWARD
This award is given to a participant in Managing for
Success: Career Development or Organizational Development.
Successful applicants should demonstrate leadership ability
or leadership potential at their present institution and a
commitment to professional growth. Applicants must be AZA
members employed full time in a zoo or aquarium.
ROBERT O. WAGNER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AWARD
This award may be applied toward any of the AZA
Professional Development courses. Applicants should
demonstrate professional involvement in AZA programs or
conservation activities, leadership ability or leadership
potential at their present institution, and a commitment to
professional growth. Applicants must be AZA members
employed full time in a zoo or aquarium.
DIVERSITY ADVANCEMENT AWARD
This award may be applied toward any of the AZA
Professional Development courses. Its purpose is to
support participation in the AZA Professional Development
Program by under represented individuals who are AZA
members and employed full time in a zoo or aquarium.
DISNEY'S ANIMAL KINGDOM DIVERSITY ADVANCEMENT AWARD
This special diversity award may be applied to any AZA
course that is required for the Conservation Education
track of the GMU Masters program in Zoo and Aquarium
Leadership. The courses include the three core courses of
Conservation Education, Institutional Records Keeping and
Managing for Success: Career Development, as well as
Creating Successful Exhibits. You do not have to be
enrolled in the Masters Program to apply, but it is
preferred. The award's purpose is to provide support for
training in an education or interpretation specialty at the
AZA Professional Development Schools. Applicants must be
AZA individual members of an under represented group who
are employed in a zoo or aquarium.
INTERNATIONAL CONSERVATION TRAINING AWARD
This award may be applied toward any of the AZA
Professional Development courses. Its purpose is to
promote professional training for our foreign zoological
colleagues. Preference will be given to candidates who are
currently involved in cooperative efforts with AZA member
institutions or participating in TAGs, CAPs or SSPs.
Employees of any zoo or aquarium outside the United States
and Canada may apply.
