A colleague of mine just brought this survey to my attention and I thought
the pollinator community might also be interested in responding to it.
Apologies if this is old news or duplicated from a previous posting.

A partnership involving the University of California-Santa Barbara,
National Council for Science and the Environment, and the Society for
Conservation Biology and supported by a grant from the Kresge Foundation
is running a survey <
http://www.40q.org/usa/cgi-bin/ciwweb.pl?studyname=USA&ac=YSVTPK&hid_pagenum=1&hid_link=1&hid_javascript=1
> asking policy-makers and conservation scientists to identify top
priorities for policy-relevant research on effective management of
species, ecosystems, and ecological processes. This effort is being
coordinated by a seven member team that includes J. Michael Scott
(Research Ecologist, USGS Fort Collins Science Center). The FAQ page <
http://www.40q.org/usa/graphics/FAQ.pdf> states that "In February 2010, a
group of approximately 50 thought leaders from the public, private, and
nonprofit sectors will convene to synthesize the pool of submitted
questions to the top 40. The questions will then go to policy-makers,
funders of research, and the scientific community.

The Top 40 survey is also mentioned in the Wildlife Society Blog <
http://wildlifeprofessional.org/blog/?p=1456&cpage=1>.
