Is the world ready for a pollinators field guide or a flower visitors field guide?
I know that some of you lead bee walks or pollinator walks. It would be nice to know about those who do so. Perhaps there is enough interest on a guide book. So far there is one for the Sonora Desert pollinators
(Nina Chambers,Yajaira Gray, Stephen Buchmann. Pollinators of the Sonoran Desert,a Field Guide). Also the XercesSociety has published "AttractingNative Pollinators: The Xerces Society Guide to Conserving North American Beesand Butterflies and Their Habitat" which includes a guide but it is not quite a field guide. So, probably it would be nice to have one for the whole country that can be used for pollinator walks.
I have been working tentatively on a small guide in my blog. I call it: "Pollinators andother flower visitors. A field guide for young people" (a simple guide including only the most common flower visitors) http://polinizador.wordpress.com/2011/03/26/pollinators-and-other-flower-visitors-a-field-guide-for-young-people/. I wonder whether there would be demand for a printed guide book.
I would like to hear from people involved in the matter.
