Bees are attracted to abundant floral resources, regardless of where those
resources are in modified landscapes. Those are the findings of Pollinator
Partnership research and development staff Dr. Vicki Wojcik after three
years of field research in the growing urban landscapes of Costa Rica.
It seems straightforward, and most bee ecologists would have predicted just
this outcome given the strong relationships of bees with their host plants,
but someone had to go out and test it. Background research into
pollinator-plant interactions help to inform the policy and management
action that P2, NAPPC, and other organizations take.
You can read the full research paper in the current issue of the Journal of
Pollination Ecology at:

The Journal of Pollination Ecology features peer-reviewed science and policy
papers focusing on pollinators and their ecosystems.
It is a great source of background research that informs policy and
conservation, and a great outlet for primary research on pollinator ecology.
