The security of individuals, communities and nations is profoundly affected by changing environmental conditions both at home and abroad. Countries can no longer isolate themselves and expect to supply affordable and clean water, food, energy, and protection against natural disasters to their citizens. Nations are beginning to work together to ensure national and international security and preparedness against natural disasters. They are also integrating environmental factors into decisions regarding defense, diplomacy, and development.
