Subject: Nat Geo and NPS BioBlitz: Experts Wanted
To: Sam Droege <_SDroege at usgs.gov_ (mailto:SDroege at usgs.gov) >
Hello faithful BioBlitzers!
Wanted to extend a personal invitation to March's BioBlitz in Golden Gate
National Park. Scientist registration will open later this fall, but I hope
you will mark your calendars now, and plan to lead a school group or
public inventory...or several! :)
You are on our master spreadsheet, and we'll be sure to let you know as
soon as you can sign up online.
Thanks as always for your support, and we look forward to seeing you in
San Francisco!
Cheers
Catherine
HI Sam,
Just saw some great coverage of your work in the WSJ! I hope you are
planning to join us for March's BioBlitz in Golden Gate NP. Scientist
registration will open later this fall, but we certainly hope you will join us!
Best wishes
Catherine
Dear Colleague:
The National Geographic Society and the National Park Service are teaming
up to conduct a BioBlitz
<http://www.nationalgeographic.com/explorers/projects/bioblitz/> in the Golden Gate National Parks <http://www.nps.gov/goga>
on March 28–29, 2014. We are currently recruiting taxonomists, field
biologists and naturalists to participate in the Golden Gate BioBlitz, and we
invite you to join us!
BioBlitz is an all-taxa species inventory in which teams of volunteers,
each led by an expert scientist, find and identify as many species as
possible within a 24-hour period. One of the most exciting aspects of the
BioBlitz is the rare opportunity for scientists to take collections in a national
park. In addition, the BioBlitz is a chance to create broader impacts
through public outreach, science education and media coverage of this
scientific endeavor.
More details about the event and the park are in the attached FAQs and
map. We have also attached a save the date card that you are welcome to share
with colleagues, graduate students and others who might be interested.
If you are interested in participating in the BioBlitz, or would like more
information, please reply to this message or contact one of us directly
(details below). We will keep you on our contact list and be in touch with
you in the months ahead.
Sincerely,
Catherine Workman, PhD
