[Pollinator] Fwd: FW: Bee

*Dear Colleagues:*


*The two attachments are based on work performed by Australians.  If you
look at the photo you will see a bee perched on the autumn-flowering
"parson's bands" orchid (Eriochilus sp.) in Western Australia.   The bee is
wearing the orchid's pollen (pollinia) on her head.  Perhaps someone can
key it down to genus.  My first guess is that it's a member of the genus
Leioproctus (Colletidae).  The photo was taken by Rob Davis.  *


*The attached article will take you into the unusual world of the duck
orchid (Paracaleana minor).   When looking at the photographs of the male
wasp and the orchid's warty lip petal (labellum) remember, love is blind
(and who are we to judge?).*
