*Bee Friendly Farming Associate – Pacific Northwest*
Part-Time Position

Pollinator Partnership (P2) is looking for an experienced and passionate
professional who possesses the skills to assist in expanding the Bee
Friendly Farming program to the Pacific Northwest. This candidate should
have extensive experience in apple and/or grape production, be a detailed
and team-oriented professional, have a strong work ethic, and be committed
to the mission and values of P2. The successful candidate should be
interested in pollinator conservation and natural resource management.

bees, butterflies, beetles, and bats, P2 plays a key role in preserving

About Bee Friendly Farming:
Bee Friendly Farming (BFF) is a program that provides guidelines for
farmers and growers interested in promoting pollinator health on their
lands. BFF is about making positive, incremental changes on farms to
support healthy pollinators and pollinator habitat. Becoming BFF certified
is affordable and simple, and the seven easy steps in becoming a certified
farm include offering nutrition and habitat for pollinators and
implementing integrated pest management strategies. BFF also incorporates
science-based, sustainable guidelines that make farms and their associated
product stand out to consumers.

Since 2020, Bee Friendly Farming has certified over 200,000 acres of
farmland, including over 65,000 acres of pollinator forage. Learn more at

Principal Responsibilities:

   - Enroll and certify farms into the Bee Friendly Farming program
   - Provide technical assistance to farmers through the creation and
   execution of habitat implementation plans for pollinator habitat on
   agricultural lands, working directly with landowners in the Pacific
   Northwest (local travel frequent/out of state travel sometimes necessary)
   - Act as regional program associate for P2’s Bee Friendly Farming
   Program, under guidance of the Bee Friendly Farming Coordinator
   - Work with the BFF task force group on program activities and
   participate in monthly meetings
   - Coordinate and work directly with program key staff, conservation
   stakeholders, and sponsors
   - Ground truth and streamline BFF registration, certification, and
   renewal protocols, providing direct support to new and existing program
   participants in the Pacific Northwest
   - Represent P2/BFF at conferences, workshops, and meetings, giving
   presentations about the program with the goal of increasing landowner
   engagement
   - Grant writing/development opportunity: research, write, and report for
   BFF program grants and activities

Required Skills:

   - Master’s Degree in Environmental Science, Horticulture, Agroecology,
   Agronomy, Entomology, Natural Resource Management, or equivalent
   professional experience
   - On-farm experience and understanding of Pacific Northwest specialty
   crops, in particular apples and grapes
   - Experience working with agricultural producers and a good
   understanding of farm operations
   - Good understanding of habitat restoration including plant ecology,
   site preparations, habitat installation, and maintenance
   - Ability to travel both locally to farm sites (personal car required,
   mileage reimbursed) and out of state for possible large projects and
   meetings. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
   - Ability to manage hired contractors to oversee habitat activities on
   farm locations
   - Strong planning, implementation, and multitasking skills
   - Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
   - Strong organizational and communication skills, including excellent
   verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Skills:

   - Pollinator biology, conservation, and research experience (including
   native and managed bees, butterflies including monarchs, and other
   pollinators)
   - Knowledge of regulatory and conservation incentive programs, such as
   USDA Farm Bill Conservation programs, and state conservation programs
   - Development, fundraising, and grant writing experience
   - Pesticide applicators license
   - Bilingual (Spanish, English)

Compensation: $30,000. This is a 50% part-time position at approximately 20
hours per week. Compensation will be based on experience and
qualifications. Local travel and expenses will be reimbursed.

Location: Washington (preferable) or Oregon State, USA - remote employee,
office not provided.
