[Pollinator] Fwd: [BOMBUS-L] protecting Bombus queens

If you have one of these buried in your yard, an irrigation system valve
box, consider putting something in the access hole where you put your
finger to pop the lid off. At this time of year, bumble bee queens
(which have spent the winter underground) are looking for nest sites,
and may go in the hole to investigate. Problem is, they usually can't
get back out, and die. A grounds manager in WY found hundreds of dead
queens in the many boxes he was checking. My boxes aren't buried but
most are.
