Solstice Greetings, 
It?s been a bit of a ride here the past couple weeks. It started with 
sudden cold temperatures at the beginning of the month that lasted about 
12 days, bursting some pipes and dropping down to 15 F at the coldest 
locales. When the cold started I thought I had all the plants moved to 
good locations, but the unusually warm weather we had up until that moment 
had meant that many things were not as dormant as usual and therefore were 
damaged... it will take a while for the full extent of the damage to show 
up, but it looks like the worst we have experienced. The water line to the 
nursery was frozen for 10 days, which meant I had to lug buckets and water 
by hand. Luckily the majority of the nursery stock was snug in the big 
greenhouse and is fine. Most of the damage is to our mother plants and the 
gardens. It finally thawed a couple days ago. We hope the rain returns 
soon...
During this time I broke a wisdom tooth which made things a bit more 
challenging. I had the offending tooth and its kin pulled this past week 
and feel much better if not wiser. Last night was the longest night of the 
year, it only gets lighter from here.
