Greetings,
we are still in the midst of tech crisis with our computer going down a
couple weeks ago. Our data was backed up but the main problem lies with
many of the programs we use are now anachronisms and will not load on
our new system. We have someone helping with this quagmire but at the
moment we still can't access most of our old email, database or
documents. We cannot currently print catalogs and the new Rare Plant
List we had planned on completing and mailing last week is obviously
delayed. Other than catalog requests I should be caught up with orders
this week. I'm still a bit behind with email and I beg your continued
patience whole we get this situation remedied.
Our big greenhouse renovation is nearly complete but with the heavy
rains we discovered that our shadehouse needs a new roof...entropy feels
a bit exaggerated this year!
We had planned another PLANT AUCTION for this weekend but our computer
crisis has changed our initial plans. We still hope to hold a simpler
and shorter auction (just 24 hours) in the next day or two but it
depends on how smoothly editing photos and updating the website actually
goes with our current limited system. As soon as this is complete and
this is complete and the auction is ready to launch we will send another
email announcing it.
Once our new computer system is functional enough (hopefully before the
holidays) we will email a supplement of new plants and freshly harvested
seed and continue the monthly specimen plant updates on the website.
Our friends at FARM Center have an upcoming 6-week immersion course from
January 21- March 4, 2019, in North Kohala, Hawaii. This is a course
designed for individuals who want training in diverse agroforestry
systems. Those who want to gain hands on experience, as well as learn
the basic principles of Multi-Strata agroforestry in the Pacific.
Although focused on Sub-Tropical Agroforestry, students will be able to
apply what they learn to all other climate zones. This program is a
blend of theory and practice designed to instill the experience and
confidence needed to successfully design and install your own
regenerative agroforest. Highly recommended. www.farmcenter.org [1]
Deadline to apply is December 15, 2019.
