Know that auction purchases directly fund much needed nursery repairs
to damage from the last several winters' storms and summer extremes,
essential renovations to our aging infrastructure, ongoing irrigation
installation [after 20 years of hand-watering, we can no longer keep
up and continue to lose plants due to a climatic shift towards hotter
& drier], etc. Purchases also support our research and writing
projects, as well as our continual conservation work—which includes
propagating an untold number of rare and endangered plants that we've
had waiting here for years, but have not had the time to multiply and
distribute...__SPECIMEN PLANT LIST:
This week is your last chance to purchase items at the May sales
discount pricing -- we currently have dozens of choice offerings ON
SALE. The list was updated for May with a medley of new offerings such
as_ __Trichocereus, _rare _Ephedra_ species, Frankincense
(_Boswellia_) treelets, floriferous _Macleania_ & _Agapetes_,
_Mandragora_ (Mandrake) plants, the Giant Himalayan Nettle
_Girardinaria diversifolia_, and plenty more! _Many plants have been
selling out, so take advantage of these offerings while you can._ See
https://sacredsucculents.com/#specimen-plant-list__
ANDEAN TUBER CROPS:
The page is updated for May with a few items on sale for a few more
days, see https://sacredsucculents.com/andean-tuber-crops/. While Oca,
Ulluco and Mashua tubers won't be available until December, we have a
limited number of other Andean tuber plants and seed of Andean crops
available, while supplies last. After several difficult years, our
stock remains _very_ limited. To honor ongoing requests, we also list
[after the tubers] a small quantity of seed of other Andean Food Crops
(kiwicha, kaniwa, quinoa, caigua, tarwi, etc.) to grow in your garden
this coming season! This and the Specimen Seed is the only retail seed
we are offering this year; _international seed orders are welcome_!__
BOOKS: Sale ending soon -- a number of our books are on on sale for
May, both New and Rare & Used titles -
https://sacredsucculents.com/#books. __
Note on our operations: We encourage you to place orders now, rather
than later in the summer, as we _may_ need to take a hiatus from
shipping orders in the coming months so that we can turn greater
attention to installing irrigation and stabilizing, salvaging and
propagating the thousands of plants in the nursery and gardens that
have been battered by years erratic, extreme weather. This is
essential to preserve the high diversity of rare & endangered plants
here (which has been in sharp decline due to the increasingly manic
climate), get us back on track to offer our full listings of plants
_and_ seeds, and for us to make available the many hundreds of species
we've never released publicly...For the time being, _Sacred
Succulents_ is currently operating at reduced capacity, other than
what's listed among the Specimens and Andean tuber page, we are still
_not_ taking seed orders or plant orders from the PDF catalog.__
The page with full descriptive and photographic accounts of our
distributed _Trichocereus_ BK accessions remains under construction,
we just added more photos to it! See
https://sacredsucculents.com/trichocereus-bk-accession-info/ We're
aware there is some confusion out there around our _Trichocereus_ BK_
_accessions distributed over the years. For clarity, we recently began
work on a document that catalogs all 40+ of these field accessions
together in one place. While fleshing out the descriptions more
thoroughly, we're incorporating greater detail about the Andean
habitat of each collection, including companion plants associates,
plus additional ethnobotany and regional history. We also recognize
the value in sharing information about distribution -- what year we
originally introduced an accession into cultivation, what it was
(seed, cuttings, seedlings), what has been distributed over the
ensuing years, and approximate quantities. It turns out that all this
is a _much_ larger undertaking than we'd first anticipated! In our
scant 'spare' time, we've been looking over _thousands_ of photos,
reading through our old field notes, two decades of _Sacred
Succulents_ catalogs, and hundreds of pages of _SS_ supplements, rare
plant lists, etc., not to mention additional reference material. We
now endeavor to work on this in stages, updating the webpage
periodically, with the goal to have the entire project completed late
in 2025. Expect more descriptions and images to be posted soon!__
The Jonathan Ott Book Project:
We are collaborating with ethnobotanist Jonathan Ott on the
publication of a deluxe series of his books, including completely new
and long-out-of-print titles. These hand-made limited editions will be
leather-bound, signed & numbered collector’s volumes with original
art by renowned painter Donna Torres.www.jonathanottbooks.com
The launch to this unparalleled series is a two-book box set of the
long out-of-print _Ayahuasca Analogues_ [densified 2nd edition!] and_
Shamanic Snuffs_—currently, only 6 of these deluxe sets are
available to purchase:
https://jonathanottbooks.com/product/limited_edition_ayahuasca_book/
_Ayahuasca Analogues_ and _Shamanic Snuffs_ have been out of print for
decades. The original editions of each title have sold online for more
than the price of the _entire_, deluxe, new two-book set. Handmade
with an exceptional level of artistic craftsmanship, this magnificent
set is more than just beautiful new editions of these important
ethnobotanical monographs, but a work of art in itself. A worthwhile
investment—made to last for generations, destined to become coveted
by collectors and ever more valuable with time. _Don’t pass up your
chance to invest in this historical set now!_
