The next first-Sunday-of-the-month slow session is this Sunday,
August 2, from 1:30-3:30pm at Deli-licious, 21505 E. Cliff Drive, in
the East Cliff Village Shopping Center.
I finally made it to this session last month, and it was really nice
-- everyone was having a great time, fine food from the deli, people
walking in and applauding, and so on. Click below to see a picture of
what the session looked like from the front door of Deli-licious:

Copies of the tuneset books generally used at slow session are sold
for $15, and you can now download and print the 1006-tune "King
Street Sessions Tunebook" for free at
http://www.pacholo.com/mike/
-- many thanks to Michael Long for putting the book together and now
putting it online as well!

> Hello, Community Music School Friend.
>
> As you may know, among our programs we offer summer music camps. It
> is the tenth anniversary of our Teen Celtic Music Camp up at Big
> Basin in the Santa Cruz mountains. This year's camp is from August
> 10-15th, and the number of teens needing to do work/study in order to
> attend is overwhelming. We will, of course, find jobs for them and
> waive their tuition fee. However, we cannot cover the fees for the
> students' room and board. Our scholarship donations are way down,
> and the grant support has almost disappeared! We are turning to you,
> our community, to help our camp succeed this year by sponsoring a
> camper.
>
> For your one-time donation of $125, you will receive a letter from
> your camper telling you about their camp experience and a picture of
> them with their instrument. You will also be our honored guest at
> the end-of-camp concert. If you can't come, we will happily send you
> a DVD of the performance. We hope you will consider this very
> personal way of donating to the arts at a time when everything seems
> more pressing than creating beauty - and remember that these students
> are young now and won't have this time again. They, in turn, will
> forever remember you with gratitude for making their summer so
> special. Community Music School is a 501(c)(3) non-profit
> organization and all donations are tax deductible. For information
> and pictures of camp visit: http://www.communitymusicschool.org/
