Pollinator Partnership Symposium - October 18, 2006
USDA South Building at Independence Ave., Washington D.C.

The partners of the North American Pollinator Protection Campaign have
organized a one-day symposium, "Pollinator Partnership: Protecting
Plant-Pollinator Interactions Worldwide," hosted by the USDA Natural
Resources Conservation Service and the Forest Service on October 18th.

This first-ever symposium will showcase the interdisciplinary efforts of
diverse stakeholder groups to conserve, monitor, and sustain populations of
pollinators and their habitats throughout North America and beyond.
Speakers will discuss the role of pollinating species in maintaining healthy
agricultural and wild ecosystems, and actions that everyone can take to
ensure the future of pollinators, and ourselves.

Highlights will include the unveiling of several federal-level actions to
promote pollinator awareness. Invited speakers include U.S. Secretary of
Agriculture Mike Johanns, USFWS Deputy Secretary Marshall Jones, Dr. May
Berenbaum of the National Academy of Sciences Status of Pollinators
Scientific Panel, Dr. Steve Buchmann of The Bee Works, and others.
