The US Fish and Wildlife Service issued its 12-month finding on 14 November 
2006
stating that it was not going to list the Island marble butterfly as either
threatened or endangered. After observations of the butterfly in 1908, the
butterfly was not seen again until 1998. During surveys in 2005 and 2006, 
the
butterfly was found at 26 locations on the San Juan and Lopez islands,
indicating up to five populations may live on the two islands.
