I am writing to inform the group about a relevant job  opening in the AMNH.
We are looking for a full-time curatorial assistant to  help with curation
of the bee collection and with associated  collections-based research
including specimen databasing.

The job  announcement:

Curatorial Assistant, Bee  Collection

Responsibilities include: This position involves assisting  with curation
of the bee collection and with associated collections-based  research. The
selected individual will be responsible for accessioning of  newly acquired
bee specimens, processing loan requests of specimen,  shipping of specimens
in compliance with all regulations, labeling of  cabinets, drawers, and
individual specimens, and incorporation of specimens  into the collection.
The selected candidate will work under the direction  of the Curator of
bees and Bee Database Project manager in coordination  with other personnel
working on Hymenoptera within the Division. The  candidate will receive
training in operation of and specimen preparation  for scanning electron
microscopy and other sophisticated laboratory  equipment,specimen
databasing,
loan management,scientific nomenclature,  bee identification,
and curation as necessary to complete assigned  tasks.

Required skills/abilities include: Bachelor’s degree in  entomology or
related field in biology or equivalent work experience.  Knowledge of or 
ability to learn operation of SEM equipment and other  sophisticated
laboratory equiment. The ability to handle delicate insect  specimens and
to read labels written in minute font. Basic computer skills.  The ability
to learn to work with existing databases. Willingness to assist  in all
research and collection-based activities of the  unit.

Full-time. 30 hours per week. $30,000.00 annual salary.
