Last year our end of year on-line fundraising campaign was successful in
raising USD 25,000 for IUCN Red List assessments.

In 2015 we will run two on-line campaigns focusing on specific species
groups. It has been a challenging task to choose which groups to feature
as all need support. After much discussion, we have chosen to focus on
Bumblebees for the first campaign which starts today. You can see the
campaign page at here.

More than 200 of the world’s 250 bumblebee species still need to be
assessed for The IUCN Red List in order to help prevent their decline.

As you know, many SSC members already devote much time and expertise
voluntarily to do Red List assessments for a huge variety of species. We
are extremely grateful for this. SSC members are of course not a target
for our online fundraising campaign. However, we would greatly appreciate
your support in spreading the word far and wide by sharing the campaign link
<http://iucn-email.org/2GI3-B092-40EN56-4CZ2B-1/c.aspx> with your networks
to help your colleagues in the IUCN SSC Bumblebee Specialist Group assess
ALL bumblebees and move The IUCN Red List closer to its goal of assessing
160,000 species by 2020.

If you are on social media keep your eye out for our Bumblebee facts which
we will be posting each week!

If this campaign is successful, we shall be looking to do online
fundraising for other groups of species in the future.

 Thank you for your support.

 Kind regards,

*Simon Stuart*
