Winter seems to have returned to some regions of North America—or not yet
left—but it’s still a great time to be thinking about butterflies and
gardens, especially since April is National Gardening Month. We’re excited
to announce the release of our latest book, published by Timber Press. And,
of course, if you make your garden good for butterflies, you’ll be able to
register it as part of the Million Pollinator Garden Challenge.

*Gardening for Butterflies: How You Can Attract and Protect Beautiful,
Beneficial Pollinators*

By the Xerces Society

*Gardening for Butterflies* starts from the premise that every gardener can
help create the ideal landscape for butterflies, and from there leads the
reader through understanding what butterflies need and how to provide it.
The book is divided into sections that

   - describe the natural history of butterflies and moths and what they
   need;
   - explain the practical steps to design, install, and maintain a
   butterfly garden; and
   - give notes on how to cater for butterflies over the garden fence in
parks, farms, corporate campuses, green roofs, and other places.

Plant lists for different regions are included in the design chapters, but
in the chapter, “Butterfly plants of North America,” you’ll illustrated
profiles of 100+ great butterfly plants that together will provide nectar
for adult butterflies and the essential nourishment for caterpillars.

You can buy it from us, http://www.xerces.org/books-butterfly-gardening/,
