[Pollinator] Monarchs and tulips

Dear Barbara:

Tulips lack nectar and bloom before monarchs pass through at your latitude.
"The Way North" began as a teaching project so children would learn about
the science of Phenology. The children reported when the tulip bulbs they
planted bloomed and when they saw the first monarch. In other parts of
America the children reported on other species. I recall some Alaskan
children reporting on snow buntings. When every school sent in their data
it could be looked at from a national perspective and was quite impressive.
