Mother of Storms
Our Mother is drunk, on some kind of bender;
We celebrated the rain’s return last winter,
But now her bounty fuels a berserker hunter
With no regard for our civilized borders.
All night heard her moan an eerie song
Didn’t know her shrieks were whipping along
Her teen-age sons grass and timber gorging;
Young bulls hurtling down slopes fire balls hurling
Stampeding across the freeway for fresh fuel
Firestorming: Gulping down each family’s jewel
Whole neighborhoods erupt in flames
Friends lose everything the night insane.
