Time has a way
Time has a way of flowing by —
a stream curling and meandering
like your hair when we first met
My friends are getting old
I know we are just one
bad fall away
It was a simpler world
back then. We took
one thing at a time.
We didn’t know what
we had when we had it.
Tomorrow was around the corner.
We ate what we wanted,
slept late, let the sun shine
in through the open window
When you go leave me
your leather jacket
with the silver buttons
Maybe that book of poetry
you write in everyday
and those boots you wore
when you told the boss
just where he could go
