[Pollinator] 5 yr reviews for Blue butterfly and Kincaid's lupine

The US Fish and Wildlife Service has announced the initiation of 5-year
reviews
for the Fender's Blue Butterfly and its hostplant Kincaid's lupine (Federal
Register: July 6, 2005 (Volume 70, Number 128): 38972-38975), and the
Smith's
blue butterfly (July 7, 2005 (Volume 70, Number 129): 39327-39329).
According to the Federal Register, "the purpose of a 5-year review is to
ensure
that the classification of a species as threatened or endangered on the List
of
Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants is accurate and based on the
best
scientific and commercial data available at the time of the review. We [FWS]
are
requesting submission of any such information that has become available
since
the original listing of each of these species."
Information must be received by 6 September 2005, in order to allow the FWS
sufficient time to conduct these reviews.
For the Fender's blue butterfly and Kincaid's Lupine, submit comments to the
Field Supervisor, Attention: 5-Year Review, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service,
Oregon Fish and Wildlife Office, 2600 SE. 98th Avenue, Suite 100, Portland,
Oregon 97266. Information may also be submitted electronically at

*The Fender's Blue Butterfly (Icaricia icarioides fenderi) was listed as
Endangered on 25 January 2000, and is known to occur in Oregon.
*Kincaid's Lupine (Lupinus sulphureus ssp. kincaidii) was listed as
Threatened
on 25 January 2000, and is known to occur in Oregon and Washington.
For the Smith's blue butterfly, submit comments to the Field Supervisor,
Attention: 5-Year Review, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Ventura Fish and
Wildlife Office, 2493 Portola Road, Suite B, Ventura, California 93003.

*Smith's blue butterfly (Euphilotes enoptes smithi) was listed as Endangered
on 1 June 1976, and was known to occur in California.
