Dear Pollinator LISTSERV:
The information below is from the organizers of the Pollinator Conference:
Information for Action which is designed for the general public and
interested stakeholders, focuses on pollinator information and action and is
to be held October 3 and 4, 2008 at the UMASS Campus Center
(http://www.millersriver.net/pollen/).
To avoid any confusion we wish to clarify that THIS IS NOT THE SAME
CONFERENCE as the 8th Annual NAPPC International Conference to be held in
Washington D.C at the US Department of State October 22-24, 2008. The NAPPC
Conference is our annual session for NAPPC partners and invited guests, and
focuses on pollinator issues across North America in the Americas.
Thanks!

Folks-
As you may know, U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service Region 5 has helped plan a
"Pollinator Conference - Information for Action." The conference is October
3 and 4, 2008 at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts.
The conference presents information about pollinator research, outreach and
conservation for scientists, educators, and land managers. An agenda is
attached.
(See attached file: PollinatorConfagendaSept5.pdf)
There are scholarships for students, and it is possible to register for
only one day of the Conference or just for the Keynote dinner speaker, John
Ascher of the American Museum of Natural History. Registration is online.
The URL for conference information is:

The Conference is sponsored by Millers River Environmental Center,
Connecticut Wildlife Grant Program, Silvio O. Conte National Fish and
Wildife Refuge, and Region 5 of the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
This is a great chance to hear what the participants know about bees,
flies, and other pollinators: ongoing research, what problems these
critters face today, the impacts of invasive species on pollinator
behavior, and what the implications are for conservation and habitat
management. If you know of other folks interested in pollinators, have a
mailing list, post to a list serve, or have friends or coworkers who
might be interested, please pass this reminder and information on. I
attach a poster to print and hang up.
