Isaacson, Miller is pleased to be working with Bat Conservation
International (BCI) on the search for their new Executive Director. The next
Executive Director will join a well respected and financially healthy organization
poised to take the next step in increasing its global impact and widening
its reach. S/he will be charged with implementing (and modifying as
appropriate) the strategic plan, increasing organizational funding, establishing
creative partnerships, furthering its educational programming and aiding the
Trustees in maximizing Board effectiveness.
BCI is a membership organization founded in 1982 and dedicated to the
conservation of bats and the ecosystems they serve. Located in Austin, Texas,
BCI is an internationally recognized entity engaged in wide ranging
ecological issues surrounding the role of bats in our world. BCI achieves its
global agenda through science-based conservation efforts, research grants,
publications, workshops, and advocacy efforts.
In short, the ideal candidate will have substantial executive leadership
experience, including experience as a non-profit director. The best
candidates will have demonstrated success in leading and managing organizations of
comparable purpose and similar complexity, preferably non-profit membership
associations with a conservation or environmental mission. BCI seeks a
leader with vision and entrepreneurial drive who possesses the strong
leadership and organizational skills needed to direct and inspire a team. A
background or training in bat biology or science is not necessary, but the ideal
candidate will have a strong appreciation for conservation, education and
research and be able to become comfortable with communicating a conservation
mission. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Trustees and
oversees a 30-person staff and a budget of $3.5 million.
