Colleagues,

 

This Saturday, August 19th has been declared National Honeybee Day.  What a great time to think about how our conservation programs can provide great habitat for both honeybees and native pollinators!

 

Attached is the type of conservation program seeding mixture that contains all the hallmarks of great pollinator habitat:

*	Habitat that will produce flowering plants throughout the entire growing season (April to October).
*	Habitat with a high diversity: 7 grass species and 66 wildflower species
*	A seeding rate that will encourage some open areas on the ground for small pheasant and quail chicks to move around and native bees to find nest sites.
*	Habitat that will benefit many, many species…….honey bees, pheasants, quail, grassland songbirds and native bees.

 

As you get ready to celebrate National Honeybee Day, remember to think about using a seed mixture that will produce great results for many years to come.

 

It all starts with the seeding mixture you use!
