The Rebanks Family Chair in Pollinator Conservation
School of Environmental Sciences, University of Guelph
The School of Environmental Sciences (SES) at the University of 
Guelph seeks applications from academics in the field of pollinator 
conservation for a newly created endowed chair. We seek an 
outstanding mid-career scientist, eligible for appointment at the 
associate or full professor level, who conducts research on the 
conservation of native pollinators in human dominated ecosystems, 
preferably but not limited to agroecosystems. The successful 
candidate will: become a key voice in the development of public 
policy that influences the conservation of pollinators; build 
partnerships that will contribute to the development of effective and 
practical approaches to ameliorating human impacts on pollinators; 
and, contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching in SES. The 
Chair will play an important leadership role in the SES and the 
University of Guelph.
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in conservation biology, 
ecology, entomology, or a related field, and will be a leader in 
pollinator conservation with demonstrated experience and a proven 
desire to engage with the public, government, NGOs and industrial 
stakeholders. He or she will have a strong and sustained record of 
excellence in research and academic publications on topics that may 
include the ecosystem services provided by pollinators, and the 
extinction risks to, and conservation strategies for, important 
pollinator species. The successful candidate will be expected to 
complement, but not duplicate, existing strengths in honey bee 
research at the University of Guelph. She or he will also have a 
strong record of teaching including the training of graduate students 
and post-doctoral fellows, supporting their career advancement in 
academia, government, industry and/or conservation organizations.
