The Bernhardt/Meier laboratory is having an unusually fruitful October with
two journals bringing out past research within the last week. The attached
paper on the pollination of a rare Chinese orchid is in conjunction with
the Kunming Botanical Institute as Dr. Ren Zong-Xin is a former post-doc of
the Bernhardt/Meier lab. Note that some "pollinators" of this orchid often
"drop the ball" or fail to connect properly. In the original manuscript, I
referred to them as klutzes and used Leo Rosten (The Joys of Yiddish) as a
citation but the oh-so English editors weren't having it. What a bunch of
shmucks (see Rosten pp. 360-361).
The publicity editor at U. of Chicago Press insists that our, "Darwin's
Orchids; Then and Now" will be released in a few days. Yes, this is an
atypically publication-rich October for the lab.
