[Pollinator] [beemonitoring] Fwd: FW: New Paper showing that restoration on islands work

I look forwards to reading this recent paper for sure! Without reading it I
cannot comment however wouldn't reducing the resources provided by invasive
weeds and increased generalisation potentially increase competition (higher
niche overlap) for pollinators and/or plants and also increase
heterospecific pollen transfer in the increasingly generalised network?
(Both of which can be considered detrimental to plant fitness, and
potentially pollinator fitness too?)

Kit

Well. this one took me by surprise and it was published in one of the most
prestigious journals. If you accept results it is saying, take out the
invasive weeds and the native pollinators concentrate on the native,
insular, plant species. Seems pretty logical but the Graphs and figures
make my head spin.

Dear Island Colleagues,

New research from the Seychelles on the effect of vegetation restoration on
pollination has shown that plant-pollinator communities and pollination
respond positively to the removal of exotic plants. Pollination networks
become more generalised, reducing the mutual dependency on a few plants and
pollinator species. Pollinators in restored plant communities change their
behaviour, resulting in increased pollination quality and quantity.
Relative and total fruit production are higher in restored communities,
which provides the foundation for the long-term viability of restored
native communities.
