*Seed Collection Training*

Pollinator Partnership, in conjuction with US Fish & Wildlife Service, will
be holding a workshop in *Mayville, Wisconsin* to teach volunteers
interested in contributing to Project Wingspan how to ID and collect seed
from our target list of monarch and rusty patched bumble bee forage and
host plants. Participants will also learn proper data collection
techniques. Please see below for details and make sure to fill out the form
to let us know if you will be attending.

This workshop is designed to train for all levels of participation (Team
Lead, Data Collector, and Seed Collection Volunteer) and participants will
also learn proper data collection techniques and how to conduct a seed
collection event.

   Horicon National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters/Visitor Center
                          W4279 Headquarters Road, Mayville, WI 53050

*THERE IS LIMITED SPACE AT THE VENUE. THE REGISTRATION WILL BE FIRST COME,
FIRST SERVED. PLEASE REGISTER TODAY TO ENSURE YOU HAVE A SPOT.*

   - Registration will be cut off when the venue is filled or by June 21st.
   - Please arrive about 10 minutes before the start time to give yourself
   an opportunity to sign in and get a seat. The Visitor Center opens at 9 am,
   so if you arrive early you may have to wait to enter the building.
   - If using navigation, be sure you're being directed to the above
   address. There is also a State visitor center at the southern end of the
   marsh, but the training is at the Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center in
   Mayville.

*At our training you will learn how to:*

   - ID the 29 native wildflowers we're targeting for this project
   - Responsibly collect seed from the landscape
   - Perform a seed cut test
   - Collect field data
   - Properly follow our seed collection protocol
   - Use our GIS data collection application on your smart phone (for
   designated data collectors)
   - Weather permitting, how to do all of this in a field setting

*What to bring:*

   - A notebook and writing utensil
   - Water bottle
   - Field clothes (we may go outside)
   - Bug spray
   - This is a brown bag event, please plan to bring a lunch

If you plan to be a Team Lead or Data Collector for the project, we
recommend that you download the free Survey123 app from your mobile
device's app store before arriving. Public WiFi is not available at the
Refuge.

Upon completion of this training, all registered attendees will be awarded
a digital personalized certificate of completion.
