A social media position has opened at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC. It's a full-time 2-yr temporary position. This position is located in the Office of Communications and Public Affairs at NMNH. We advance the Smithsonian's broader mission of increasing and diffusing knowledge by seeking to better understand the natural world and our place in it. NMNH connects people everywhere to Earth's unfolding story.
Responsibilities
* Writes and edits social media posts daily about natural history science, that are accurate, relevant, and engaging for audiences on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other priority platforms. Creates shareable visuals (e.g. photos, illustrations, infographics, videos).
* Tracks daily metrics for our social media platforms and reports on them monthly, quarterly, and annually.
* Builds an expanding network of relationships across the museum to advance the content production pipeline.
* Monitors conversations about the museum that are unfolding on the priority platforms-responding to comments and direct messages.
