The next first-Sunday-of-the-month slow session is this Sunday,
January 4, from 2-4pm at Deli-licious, 21505 E. Cliff Drive, in the
East Cliff Village Shopping Center. I heard from both August and
Lucas that last month's first meeting of this new session was really
great -- Lucas says:

> The first Sunday Jam was a good success. We already have new members,
> which is wonderful. 'Deli-licious' really likes us. Thank you guys
> for patronizing. Their food is really cheap. I think I am going to
> buy their Brazilian egg plate ($3.25) next time. Also, I was seeing
> if we could make copies of the music that we can play really slow, if
> need be. Stuff by like 'Si Bheag Si Mhor', 'Carolan's Draght',
> 'Ashokin Farewell', 'The Butterfly', 'The Ash Grove' and 'Ye Banks
> and Braes'. It might be nice to tip Jamie for all this copying work
> he has done. It is really nice to have some variety to play.
>
> Besides having a good place for someone starting with our group, the
> slow jam can be fun for everyone. We found that when we played the
> Cork hornpipe slower, it became a bouncy, wonderful piece of music.
> I think it can stay bouncy now, even at speed. It is also a good
> place to work on projects. Certain passage can be more difficult.
> Likewise, it is a good place to experiment with ornaments, trills and
> the like. Lastly it is good fun for those who don't want to wait
> another month to play.

I've got a time conflict with a holiday party myself, so if anyone
wants to get a copy of the tunebook beforehand they can email me to
arrange a pickup.
