Céad míle fáilte (100 thousand welcomes)!
You're invited to the 2nd Sunday of the month Session, 7pm - 9pm on
May 8, Britannia Arms Pub, 8017 Soquel Dr., Aptos. This is a slow/
moderate/intermediate-speed session.
Etiquette guidelines:
1) Session starts promptly.
2) Going around in a circle, everyone has a turn to choose a tune and
the tempo. Tunes are generally played at moderate speed, but players
are willing to slow down if needed.
3) A single tune is played 3 times. In a set, each tune is played twice.
4) Talking beyond short chats or helpful comments please carry on out
of the circle or after the session.
5) This is a place of business. Please purchase something, if only a
soda. Come early and have some of the pub's tasty food.
6) In general, sheet music is not used at sessions (other than the 1st
and 3rd-Sunday Slow Sessions). This is the session you can use to
wean yourself. Here's a website with tips on playing by ear:
http://www.slowplayers.org/SCTLS/learn.html
Of course, use your tuneset book if needed.
Directions from Santa Cruz: South on Hwy 1, take State Park exit,
turn left at light. At Soquel Dr., turn right. Go about a half mile.
Go under a bridge. Pub's immediately on the left. Parking is best
just past the pub on the left in general village parking.

Passing on an email message from Shelley Phillips:
> Sponsor a music camper!
>
> As many of you know, every year we hold a teen Celtic music camp up in
> Boulder Creek, CA. All info here:
> This will be our 11th year, and it is totally fun and awesome. We
> have lots of testimonials!
>
> Many students want to go, and we try to make it as inexpensive as
> possible. We are the cheapest music camp around, but still it's hard
> for lots of folks who are just scraping by. The camp we rent has in
> the past charged us $125 per student, but just upped it to $165 per
> student for the room and board. We are happy to give many
> scholarships in-kind and for trade, and our teachers are patient with
> large classes, but we need real money for the boarding expense.
>
> So we have asked that, if you feel so moved, you might go to the
> website above and click our sponsor a camper button, which will take
> you to PayPal where you can enter an amount to support a teen camper
> at this year's overnight Celtic music camp. You can also of course
> send a check to Community Music School, P. O. Box 531, Santa Cruz, CA
> 95061
>
> For a donation of $100 or more you will get VIP seating at our teen
> camp concert at 11 AM on Saturday June 25, free lunch, lots of thanks
> and adulation, and a choice of any of our school fund-raising CDs:
> Let us know which one you want and we will send it.
>
> And to those who have already given to the camps (that means you
> David, and the rest of you too) YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST. You are
> angels. We will survive this arts programs "downturn" and keep
> smiling! Love, S
