[Santa Cruz Celtic Slow Sessions] Traditional Scottish music next month in Scotts Valley

Hi everyone:

Community Music School presents Rachel Hair and Ron Jappy in concert at 7:30pm on Thursday, May 2nd. On their first visit to the West Coast, this electrifying duo combine the Scottish harp with the acoustic guitar. Performing an exquisite mix of Scottish traditional music, they balance virtuosity with emotion, embracing the rich cultural tradition of Scotland, whilst charming audiences as they go. The performance will take place at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Scotts Valley. General admission tickets are $25 advance/$30 at the door. College students get in for $15, and kids under 18 for $10. Doors open at 7:00pm, and refreshments will be available during intermission.

They are each offering a 90-minute workshop the following afternoon at 4:30:  Rachel on harp, and Ron on strathspeys for the fiddle. (Ron, originally and still a fiddle player, was a finalist in several of the UK’s most prestigious fiddle invitational competitions – the Glenfiddich Fiddle Championship and the Highlands and Islands fiddle Masters.) The cost of the workshops are $25 each.
