Washington, DC – From educating neighbors about pollinator-friendly
conservation practices to building awareness and support for pollinators in the U.S.
Senate, this year’s North American Pollinator Protection Campaign Pollinator
Advocate Award recipients are being recognized for their efforts to increase
awareness of the importance of pollination.

The Pollinator Advocate Award is given to worthy recipients from the U.S.,
Mexico, and Canada. 2006 Pollinator Advocate Award recipients are Jim Dyer
(Canada); Francisco Molina, Ph.D. (Mexico), Betsy Croker (Washington, DC); and
Vincent J. Tepedino, Ph.D. (Logan, UT).

NAPPC collaborated with the National Association of Conservation Districts
(NACD) to create a new NAPPC/NACD Farmer-Rancher Pollinator Conservation Award,
given to farmer and conservationist John Keely (Portland, OR).

By acting as advocates for bees, butterflies, bats, birds, beetles, and other
animal pollinators, the award recipients are leaders in paving the way for a
healthy and sustainable conservation movement in which humans work to protect
their pollinating partners.

More information about the award program and profiles of this year’s award
winners are provided in the attached news release.
