If you live in Broward or Palm Beach counties, almost any honeybee you see is most likely an Africanized honeybee, according to Dr. William Kern, assistant professor in the Entomology and Nematology Department at the University of Florida. They were first intercepted at local ports in 2002. Three years layer, the aggressive Africanized bees, nicknamed killer bees, have outnumbered the milder mannered European honeybees.
