[Pollinator] Using Farm Bill programs for pollinator conservation

Hello pollinator list members,

We have been working closely with Mark Skinner at the NRCS National 
Plants Data Center on a publication called Using Farm Bill Programs 
for Pollinator Conservation.  This publication will eventually be 
part of the PLANTS Database pollinator module and we have completed a 
draft that is suitable for distribution.  You will find it attached 
to this email.

It provides details on how pollinator habitat restoration can be 
supported using the conservation programs in the 2008 Farm Bill.  The 
guidelines include an overview of these conservation programs, which 
are administered by the Natural Resource Conservation Service and the 
Farm Service Agency.  Also included are tables on how specific 
conservation practices (such as hedgerows, field borders, filter 
strips, cover cropping, or range planting, to name a few) can be used 
to implement pollinator conservation projects.

This publication will be useful to staff of the NRCS, FSA, and Soil 
and Water Conservation Districts, but also to growers, ranchers, and 
- in the case of the Wildlife Habitat Incentive Program - other 
private landowners.  It's a draft, but it has been edited very 
carefully so it will be useful pending a final version.
