*Postdoctoral Position in Pollination in a Changing Climate*
*Department of Biological Sciences, University of Lethbridge, Canada*
We are seeking applicants interested in pollination and climate change
research to join our team in 2022. Funding is available to support a
postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Dr. Shelley Hoover in the
Department of Biological Sciences, University of Lethbridge. The postdoc
position is funded for 3 years at $54,000 CDN per year plus benefits,
research support, and travel funding.
*Project:* As we contend with unpredictable weather caused by changing
climate, understanding the effects of extreme weather on crop yield and bee
health are critical to improve both agricultural sustainability and food
security. This project will provide much needed information on the effects
of extreme heat and drought on canola production and pollination, in
anticipation of increased frequency of extreme weather events. By examining
the yield of canola exposed to different combinations of heat, drought, and
pollination, we will examine the interactive effects of climate change
drivers on the relationship between plants and pollinators.
*Application Procedure: *Candidates require a PhD in biology, environmental
science, agriculture, or a related field. Knowledge of plant reproduction,
bee biology, and pollination would be an asset. Equity and diversity are
essential to academic excellence, and we encourage applications from
members of historically marginalized groups. Preference will be given to
Canadians and permanent residents of Canada; however, all qualified
applicants are encouraged to apply.
Submit your application by email to Dr. Shelley Hoover (s.hoover at uleth.ca)
with the subject line: Canola Postdoc Application [last name]. Selected
applicants will be interviewed by Zoom and asked to provide references.
Final hiring and admission are subject to the approval of the University of
Lethbridge.
*All applications must include: *a cover letter that describes the
applicant’s research interests and publication record as well as relevant
experience, a current curriculum vitae, official or unofficial PhD
transcripts, and contact for two references to support the application. Review
of applications will begin September 1, 2022 and continue until the
position is filled. For further information please contact Dr. Shelley
