The USDA Forest Service/Pacific Northwest Research Station, through the ORISE<https://orise.orau.gov/internships-fellowships/postdocs.html> program, anticipates hiring a postdoctoral fellow with strong quantitative skills to work with a team of scientists in analyzing data collected during 10 years of native bee studies in interior Pacific Northwest riparian and upland forested sites. The fellow will participate in the full research cycle from analysis to publication and presentations, interacting closely with the USFS scientists, geospatial staff, and Oregon State University collaborators to further their research and teamwork skills. Interested applicants should email the contacts listed below to be notified when the position is formally advertised.

  * Finished their PhD in a STEM-related discipline within 5 years of the start date
  *   Excellent quantitative skills
  *   A strong publication record
  * Experience working with large datasets
  * Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  * Experience with mixed-effects modelling and path analyses/structural equation modeling
  * Experience with data structuring and management
  * Skills in pollinator network analyses
  * Research experience with native bees or other pollinators

The yearly stipend range is ~$60,000 – $70,000, commensurate with experience, academic standing, and discipline. Participants must have health insurance, but 75% of costs can be covered by the program. A training and travel allowance will also be provided. The initial appointment is guaranteed for 1 year, with the possibility of an extension depending on availability of funding and recommendation by USFS. The position will be based out of the USFS PNW Research Station, La Grande Forestry and Range Sciences Laboratory in La Grande, Oregon, with lab and office space available there and at Oregon State University’s Hermiston Agricultural Research and Extension Center. Start date and remote work arrangements are negotiable. Research highlights from the USDA FS/OSU pollinator research program are available at:
