All individuals interested in the ecological,  economic, geographic, 
institutional, and management  aspects of ecosystem services are strongly encouraged  
to submit an abstract for oral or poster  presentation.  Abstracts on 
educational and  outreach topics are also encouraged.  Oral and  poster presentations 
will be selected from abstract  submissions, and abstracts from all 
presentations will  be published in the conference book of  abstracts.

Due to an overwhelming response, the call for  abstracts has been extended to 
August 31, 2008.  

Greetings! 

ACES 2008, A Conference on Ecosystem  Services, will bring together 
government,  non-governmental organization, academia, tribal, and  private sector 
leaders to advance the use of ecosystem  services and related science in 
conservation,  restoration, resource management, and development  decisions. The 
conference will highlight concepts  and applications relating to four primary  
themes:  

    *   Mapping and spatial relationships  
    *   Values and measurement  
    *   Dynamic systems and drivers of change  
    *   Institutional structures and decision  making
Preliminary topics to be  addressed within each theme during the conference  
are: 

Mapping and Spatial  Relationships: Spatial Relationships /  Analysis, 
Landscape Dynamics, Distribution of  Benefits, Remote Sensing, Data Management /  
Coordination, and Scale / Units of Assessment  
Values  and Measurement:  
Economic, Ecological, Cultural, and Indicators  and Monitoring

Drivers  of Change:  
Urbanization / Population Growth, Climate Change,  Natural Hazards, Invasive 
Species, Non Urban Land-Use,  and Resource Management

Decision  Making:
